Reusing costumes while losing weight (Renaissance Faire 2013)

I was thinking of what to wear to this year's Renn Faire.  I would love to wear my black & silver damask dress but it will be too big by fall.  It was a little big when I made it & will be much bigger since I'm already losing weight.  How do I remedy this?  I'm thinking of putting grommets on both sides of the bodice so it can be tied tighter.  This dress has a fantasy twist on it so I think the side lacing will work.  I will probably have to tack the shoulders again so the bodice doesn't dip so low & I give all the attendees a free show.  I also need to replace the front panel on the underskirt.  The one that I currenly have has "pinches" that are coming apart & I can't fix them.  I'm pretty unhappy about this.  At least I only need to replace the front panel & not the entire underskirt.  I think I want to also jazz up some details.  I just hope it's not hot that day.  The fabric will keep me very toasty.  Here's the dress:

  1. Lovely dress! I understand the weight gain and loss issues with dress. I have a corset that I ordered smaller, and then I gained 5 pounds! I look forward to more of your posts.

    1. Thank you! I think I will have to buy one before the year is out. I have my old standby that I'll probably have to say adieu to. Thank you for your response! :)
