Goth pieces

In August there will be a 20 year reunion of a local goth band.  I'm really excited to see them.  There hasn't been a good goth event in my city in a long time.  I call this a time to really dress up.  Unfortunately it will be in August so the heat will limit my creativity.  The club where it will be at is notorious for not having good air conditioning.  So I must plan carefully.  I already have a lovely black full floor length skirt (made with cotton sateen-shinier side out) with a nice 6" (very gathered) ruffle on the botton.  I bought a full hoop to wear underneath (need to fix one of the plastic bones).  I have a beautiful Edwardian style overbust corset in black brocade.  So my problem is the top.  Nothing I have jumps out at me.  So I have decided I can make something.  I found some inspiration tops.  One has an 18th century neckline & 3/4 length sleeves and the other is a top w/a scoop neck w/puff sleeves and a lace undershirt (or maybe a dickey).  I am self-conscious of my arms so the 3/4 sleeves fixes that problem.  I'm not sure what fabric to make it out of.  I should have patterns I can use.  The fabric & trim wouldn't be that expensive as I think simplicity is all this needs.  There is elegance in simplicity.  However, I do have a problem of do I wear the corset outside because its really pretty or do I wear the top over & use the corset for shape?  I guess it will depend on the top I make.

Here are some pics to get the idea (3rd one is me to show skirt w/hoop):

EDIT: I found another top from Nocturnal Nostalgia that gives me great inspiration (very similar to the one in the link above). I don't think I will do the 2 tone because I like it for its simple design. I think having my corset underneath will give great shape. The length is really good too. I also like how the neckline goes inward towards the neck. Very elegant. I will do something different with the sleeves though. I need to shorten them since the event will be in August. Maybe put something drapey at the ends, something like an 18th century gown. I should have pattens already that I can use to make this. Good thing I always stockpile on sale weeks!
