Last night I went foraging through all my fabric & trim remnants. I found I had enough fabric from my previous under shirt to make another & some detachable sleeves. I am making another because when I started to take the collar apart to give it a double ruffle collar, the fabric start to pull & it seemed weak & could shred some more. So I tossed it & started new. I hope my detachable sleeves turn out as I've never made any before. I altered the long sleeve pattern to not have a shoulder. I'm also still deciding on what to do with the sleeve cuff. I can decide that later as the sleeves can be made at any time.
As for the bralette, I will need my hubby's help to get the right measurements. My original one was not wide enough in front & therefore I did not get enough support or coverage. I thought I could measure myself but it was not to be. It's definitely a 2 person project. I did find some pretty off white fabric w/a pretty white floral pattern printed on it that I had left over. Sometimes I like to make my undergarments pretty even though no one will see them. I will also probably make another pair of pantaloons since my current ones are made of flannel (not good for warm weather, though SUPER cozy & soft for cold weather). I like cotton undergarments. Yay for natural fibers! However, that is a later project after the dress is done.
Since my friends & I are planning to keep our Jane Austen tea party an annual one, I plan to wear this dress to it. I don't know when we'll have it this year. However, if it's in the cold weather, I plan to make a Spencer jacket to go with it. I have a bunch of velveteen left over that I think would make a great jacket. I will probably line it with quilted fabric like my last one for added warmth & little bulk. But this is a project determined by the weather & will worry about it then.
What I have found out so far:
YAY for left over fabric & trim
Natural fibers are wonder because they are relatively inexpensive, are breathable & pretty easy to take care of
Glad to have a hubby that helps me with my projects
