Yesterday I decided my F+F dress needed a bolero. So I think I will attempt this at the end of October. I really need to make my costume a priority. However, since the bolero is an easy pattern that requires little fabric, I think I can get it done. It will be simple. It will have a ruffle around the edge & cuffs (the cuffs on the dress are removable). I think it will tie w/a satin ribbon. I haven't decided on that yet. I also want to use Butterick pattern 5232. So I think I will wait until it goes on sale. Here's a pic of the F+F dress I have:
Small update on costume: I have all of the trim sewn on. I found the most perfect trim for the top of the neckline. I will do a final fitting tonight so I can sew on the sleeves. I've alreay cut out the cuffs for them. I've also cut the velveteen for the shoulder bows & skirt bows. I just need to sew all of them together & attach them. However, I need to cut some more velveteen for the skirt bows so they have a partial lining. I don't have enough for do double side so I will do it partially. They will probably hang better anyway. Velveteen can get very bulky. My shoulder bows aren't perfect because of that. I just hope it doesn't look sloppy. This weekend I will tackle the pleats as I still need to hem & cut more strips for the other skirt. Ugh, each ruffle is about 500+ inches long. This will take awhile, but the look should be stunning. This Friday I will order my boning & casing. I will cut the white fabric for the hoop & work on the pleats while I wait for the order to come in. I should be able to get a lot done before then. Wish me luck!
